Yellow Brick Road -A Beginners Class for Youth.
Learn to piece a Lap sized quilt top together with the YELLOW BRICK ROAD pattern by Terry Atkinson. This is a wonderful pattern for a beginner quilter to learn many valuable quilt piecing techniques.
This is an all day work shop that begins at 10 am and ends at 4 pm. There will be a lunch break, please bring a sac lunch and something to drink. There is a fridge available to keep things cool.
Additional Supplies needed:
Materials for class should be purchased in advance of the class.
1. Yellow Brick Road Pattern.
2. 6-12 coordinating fat quarters depending on the size you are wanting to make
3. 2 yards of fabric for border and binding this can be purchased at a later date.
4. Backing fabric can be purchased later. If you purchase it now you will need 3 1/2 yards for the backing.
Techniques taught:
- Preparing fabrics
- Cutting strips
- Use of Rotary cutter, ruler, and mat with safety
- Learn what a 1/4 inch seam really is
- Understanding fabric design composition and lay out
- Piecing units together
- Accurate measurements
- Arranging blocks
- Stitching Blocks together
- Pressing techniques

- Thread for project
- Sewing machine in good working order. (Bring Manual) This is important for your personal sewing machine to be in good working order.
- If you need a Sewing Machine there will be one available.
- 1/4 inch presser foot (optional)
- New size 14 needle
- Fabric Scissors and small thread trimming scissors
- Sewing accessories (pins, marking pens or pencils, seam gauge, etc
